A Handbook to Biblical Hebrew: An Introductory Grammar - Ebook written by Page H. Kelley, Terry L. Burden, Timothy G. Crawford. Read this book using Google Play Books app on your PC, android, iOS devices. Download for offline reading, highlight, bookmark or take notes while you read A Handbook to Biblical Hebrew: An Introductory Grammar. The book of Amos is arguably, one of the most troubling books of judgment in the Bible. It functions, according to Garrett, as an apology of Amos' prophetic ministry during a time of deceptive of prosperity in Israel. With this context in mind, Duane Garrett in Amos: A Handbook on the Hebrew Text focuses on the text of this troubling book. For Garrett this is a strict focus: .

Know more about the message of the book of Jonah. Know the Hebrew verb forms better. Know how to apply the basic meanings of the verb patterns and how to apply the basic uses of nouns and verbs, having studied van der Merwe, Christo H. J., Jan H. Kroeze, and J. A. Naudé.   A couple of Advents ago I preached on Jonah. There is no lack of good resources on the book, even ones that treat the Hebrew text itself. But the Baylor handbook offers a somewhat unique perspective, analyzing the words and phrases of the Hebrew text, as well as reading it through a discourse analysis lens.

This is the first volume in the Baylor Handbook on the Hebrew Bible series. In his introduction, Tucker indicates that the series, or at least his own handbook on the Hebrew text of Jonah, is intended to serve students who have moved from introductory grammar to the biblical text. The book starts with nouns and adjectives and only after the student has a firm base does he move on to the infinitly more difficult verbs. Hey what did you expect it is Hebrew. One caution, although the book is full of excercises there are no answers. To get the answers you have to buy another book the handbook which accompanies this book.
